MINUTES
(1) CALL TO ORDER:
Pursuant to due call and posted notice
thereof, the City Council of the Victoria City Council was called to order
at 6:00 p.m. by Mayor Hershberger Thun in the Council Chambers at 7951
Rose.
Roll Call:
Members Present: Mayor: Mary
Hershberger Thun; Councilmembers: Tim Amundsen, Jim Paulsen, Rick Tieden,
and Kim Roden.
Absent: None.
Staff Present: Jennifer Kretsch,
City Clerk.
Others Present: None.
(2) Selection of Interim Park and Recreation/Field
House Director
A motion was made by Mayor Hershberger
Thun, seconded by Councilmember, Roden to open the City Council meeting
continued from 8-9-07. With all members voting in favor, the motion
carried. Vote: 5 Ayes, 0 Nays.
Mayor Hershberger Thun stated the
first topic is to discuss the two candidates that have just been
interviewed for the Interim Park and Recreation/ Field House Director.
The Mayor and Council Members agreed
that both candidates, Mark Brewer and Don Uram were highly qualified for
the Interim position.
A motion was made by Council Member
Paulson, seconded by Council Member Tieden to approve Mark Brewer as the
Interim Park and Recreation/Field House Director. With all members
voting in favor, the motion carried. Vote: 5 Ayes, 0 Nays.
(3) Selection of Executive Recruiter for the Full-Time Director of Parks
and Recreation/Field House
Mayor Hershberger Thun distributed a draft job
description for the Director of Parks and Recreation. She stated she will
forward to the Council Members the job description from another community
for their Park and Recreation/Facilities Director position.
The City Council discussed the Search and Selection
proposal provided by Harvey Feldman of Park and Recration Consultants (PARC)
and Ken Vraa of Ken Vraa LLC dated August 12, 2007 for the search and
selection of the fulltime Director of Parks and Recreation/Field House.
The City Council discussed the deliverable items No’s.
one through eleven of the proposal and agreed items ten and eleven weren’t
going to be relevant. Under the proposal they consultants will interview,
develop a job profile and recommend top five candidates to the City
Council.
A motion was made by Council Member
Tieden, seconded by Council Member Paulsen to approve the Search and
Selection for the City of Victoria’s Park and Recreation/Field House
Director proposal by Harvey Feldman and Ken Vraa to assist and develop a
list of candidates for the ful-time position. With all members voting
in favor, the motion carried. Vote: 5 Ayes, 0 Nays.
A motion was made by Mayor Hershberger
Thun, seconded by Council Member Roden to Close the City Council Meeting
and adjourn into closed session to discuss salaries for the Interim
Position. With all members voting in favor, the motion carried. Vote:
5 Ayes, 0 Nays.
A motion was made by Council Member
Tieden seconded by Council Member Amundsen to open the City Council
Meeting. With all members voting in favor, the motion carried. Vote: 5
Ayes, 0 Nays.
The City Council discussed the recent
storm and the Public Works role in helping pick up the limbs that
residents place by the curb. It was agreed upon that if the resident bring
the limbs no larger than 4" in diameter to the curb of the street, the
public works will pick them up and arrange for chipping or disposal though
Friday, August 17, 2007.
A motion was made to adjourn the
August 13, 2007 continuation City Council Meeting.
