Advisory Committees & Commission
Applications Now Open for City of Victoria Advisory Commission & Committees
Victoria residents are invited to make an impact on their community and the future of Victoria by serving on a City advisory commission or committee. These City Council-appointed positions are responsible for researching, reviewing and making recommendations on a variety of different issues.
The application deadline is Tuesday, Feb. 23 at 4:30 p.m. The City Council will conduct interviews during their Monday, March 8 (and possibly Monday, March 22 if needed) City Council meetings.
All terms begin on April 1, 2021 and are open to all Victoria residents ages 18 and older. Youth commission appointments are open to any resident students who will be a high school junior or senior in the fall of 2021.
Opportunities for service are available on the following advisory commissions:
Parks & Recreation Committee
The Parks & Recreation Committee is the advisory body that reviews and makes recommendations on issues related to recreation, leisure, parks and open space.
- Three (3) Regular Members
- Three-year term
- One (1) Student Member
- One-year term
Meetings held the third Monday of each month at 6:30 p.m.
The Planning Commission is the advisory body that reviews, researches and makes recommendations on issues related to site plans, subdivisions, land use and zoning.
- Two (2) Regular Members
- Three-year term
- Two (2) Alternate Members
- Until appointed regular member
Meetings held the first and third Tuesdays of each month at 6 p.m.
Senior Advisory Committee
The new Senior Advisory Committee focuses on providing recommendations and advocating for resources, programming, and education for Victoria residents age 55+.
- Minimum of five (5) members needed to begin committee
- Variable terms to develop three-year term rotation
Meetings held the first Monday of each month at 10 a.m.
