Park Amenities

Woven throughout the park system of Victoria, Minnesota are a variety of park amenities for our community.

We have everything from pickleball courts to playgrounds as a foundation for all your recreational  needs. Maintained by, or in partnership with, the Victoria Parks & Recreation Department, the park amenities offer opportunities for everyone in your household.

Victoria is home to several baseball and softball fields maintained by the City of Victoria Parks & Recreation Department along with amenities like  batting cages, dugouts, and spectator stands. The Department also organizes two summer baseball leagues (tee ball and coach pitch) for our youngest community members. Amateur baseball also has a place here in Victoria! Poppitz Field at Lions Park is home to the Victoria Vic’s Baseball Club.

The Charlson Thun Community Bandstand is located in the heart of downtown Victoria, Minnesota along Stieger Lake with views of Carver Park Preserve. Stop by the bandstand throughout the summer for excellent views of the lake and on Wednesday nights during the summer to watch the Concerts in the Park series.

The outdoor basketball courts in Victoria provide space for individuals of all ages to develop and build their basketball skills, join friendly matches, and participate in competitive tournaments. Most importantly, these are spaces to have fun. A little too cold out? There is also open gym time available at the Victoria Recreation Center.

Bayfront Plaza can be found in the heart of downtown Victoria along Stieger Lake with views of Carver Park Preserve. With the Charlson Thun Bandstand, hillside seating area, and a patio, this is an excellent place to enjoy the beautiful views of the lake and the perfect place for social gatherings.

Bike fix-it stations in Victoria are located in two key parks for the community to use for personal repairs. The stations include tools for basic bike repairs and maintenance with a bike stand connected to each station.

Community gardens are a place for the community to gather and grow a variety of vegetables, flowers, fruits and herbs. The Victoria Parks & Recreation Department manages two locations that have raised garden plots available for rent on an annual basis.

Fishing piers extend into several of Victoria's lakes giving community members several options to fish in our waters. There are several fishing piers so grab your rod, get out on the lake, throw a line, and let the magic happen.

Open spaces allow everyone to enjoy and take in the beautiful surroundings and nature that can be found in Victoria. At these parks, you can take advantage of these open spaces by taking walks on the trails with your dogs, pack snacks and a picnic blanket, and enjoy the fresh air and serenity in the open grassy fields.

The outdoor ice rink is open during the winter season when weather permits. This is a great place for the community to gather and ice skate as well as play pick up hockey with friends and family. The indoor ice arena at the Victoria Recreation Center also has open skate time available.

Take advantage of the picnic shelters in Victoria by stopping by for a quick picnic in the park or reserve a park shelter for a party, family reunion, wedding, or even a work event.

The outdoor pickleball courts at Diethelm Park behind the Victoria Recreation Center have fencing and net systems, and lighting lines the courts so play can extend into the evenings. A shaded seating area for spectators was also built next to the courts. There is no cost to play on the outdoor pickleball courts.

Explore Victoria by visiting the different playgrounds around town! There are a variety of playgrounds throughout the Victoria neighborhoods with everything from swings and slides to natural play areas. Make sure to fill out a Playground Passport when you visit a new playground!

The Victoria Recreation Center offers a variety of recreation opportunities for members and guests. Facility amenities include a gymnasium, an indoor walking track, an ice arena, fitness center, and rental rooms. It also hosts recreation programs, activities, and classes taught by trained experts for all ages year round.

The skate park in Victoria has moved to its new home in Lions Park. It is a great place to bring your skateboard, bike, or scooter to play around on the skate park equipment.

Victoria has designated areas at several parks to snowshoe during the snowier months. All you need is a pair of snowshoes, warm clothes, and sturdy boots, as well as a sense of adventure to hit the trails.

Our wide-open soccer fields enhance the environmental beauty of the surrounding community. They also provide a place for people to come together and play a number of sports as well as enjoy activities like picnics and community events like Pop-Up Splash Pad.

Victoria has over 32 miles of trails and sidewalks spread across Victoria, Minnesota. One of the best ways to discover all that Victoria has to offer is to follow the trail system that winds throughout the city. Each year, the system spreads further and further as it connects more and more neighborhoods.

Other Parks and Trails in Victoria

Victoria is rich in natural amenities. Our open spaces, parks, lakes, woods, wetlands, and trails provide endless opportunities for all ages to explore the wonders of the north.  

Carver Park Reserve
Situated on 3,500 acres of woods and interconnected marshes and lakes along the northwest boundary of the city, Carver Park Reserve is home to the Lowry Nature Center, the historic Grimm Farm, and the King Waterbird Sanctuary. The Reserve is known for its year-round recreational activities including birdwatching, trail hiking or skiing or snowshoeing. It also features a 14-mile championship mountain biking trail - the Monarch Trail, an off-leash dog park, and a seasonal campground.  

Minnesota Landscape Arboretum
The Minnesota Landscape Arboretum sits on the east side of Victoria with 1,200 acres dedicated to horticulture. The Arboretum showcases what is possible within our northern plant ecosystems. Other features of the Arboretum include the Apple House and a nature site on Lake Tamarack

Lake Minnetonka Regional Trail
The Lake Minnetonka Regional Trail stretches over 15 miles between Hopkins and Victoria, offering scenic views of Lake Minnetonka along the way. This aggregate trail passes through the communities of Minnetonka, Deephaven, Greenwood, Excelsior, Shorewood, and Victoria.
