Hands-Only CPR Course
Save lives by learning how to give hands-only cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) to those in need of life-saving measures when time is critical.
If someone is unresponsive, you need to act quickly to assess the situation, call 911, and perform hands-only CPR, if necessary, until emergency responders arrive at the scene. With quick thinking, these actions can save someone's life.
The Victoria Fire Department is hosting a hands-only CPR course to educate residents on the bystander's role in a cardiac emergency. This course is perfect for parents or anyone that wants to gain knowledge on how to prepare and respond to emergencies where CPR may be needed.
During the course, participants will learn how to assess and respond to a situation if someone is experiencing a cardiac event. The course covers how to perform the hands-only CPR technique and use an automated external defibrillator (AED).
This is an informational course where participants will receive hands-on training using CPR manikins. It is not a certification course. Hands-only CPR differs from traditional CPR in that it only provides chest compressions to aid in circulation of the blood to vital organs until emergency responders are able to take over. This technique fills a crucial void in patient care until more advanced care can be provided by emergency responders.
