Sneak a peek of Tamarack Lake at the Overlook off of the Lake Minnetonka Regional Trail.


An overlook area provides a peaceful spot for community members to rest or take in the view while passing along the Lake Minnetonka Regional Trail or wandering down into the woods from Swiss Mountain Park. Tamarack Lake is a pristine environmental lake surrounded by majestic stands of oak, maple, basswood, and pine as well as an upland meadow and wetlands that provide a a habitat for a diverse population of birds, mammals, amphibians, and native plants. As the deepest lake in Carver County, Tamarack Lake supports a healthy lake ecosystem and fishery.

As a Natural Area tucked along Tamarack Lake, the overlook features a beautiful view that all may enjoy. To experience the views from closer to the lake, more experienced hikers may prefer the challenge.
